J and I woke up with a bang the other night. . .HUGE thunder and lightening storm. Both of us wanted to look outside and check out the chaos but neither of us could manage to remove ourselves from under our terrycloth covers. Along with the windows we shook with every boom for about 2 hours, convinced that the storm was happening right in our room.
Luckily the next day brought tons of sunshine. We also realized that the rain brings out some sort of huge red cockroachy bug. . .and then we realized the vendors are thrilled by this because they can cook them and sell them on the side of the road to eat. Hmmm don't think I'm feeling quite that adventurous yet. . .
We went to the Grand Palace and Wat Pho yesterday. It took hours just to walk through those 2 places. They have the most amazing temples and huge golden Buddhas. Highlights were the Emerald Buddha and the largest reclining Buddha. I'll add pics later.
We're really getting the hang of moving around this crazy city whether it's walking, riding the Skytrain or the tuk tuks. We're still waking up about 6am everyday from the time difference but don't really mind. We start early, keep ourselves busy in the city, then crash about 8pm. . .so no, we haven't seen the crazy Bangkok night scene yet. Maybe one of these nights. . .
Miss you and love you! Talk to you soon!

We made it!!!
Hellooooooo out there!
Just wanted to let you know we made it!
The computer at the hotel is a little ghett-O so I won't be adding much until we get to a geekier spot for all of us cool bloggers out there.
The past few days have been full of adventure though. . .and tons of times when J and I just look at eachother shaking our heads going "where are we???"
We've seen tons of the city. . .8-story malls, weekend markets, massages for $7, street food and tuk-tuks (google image that one if you don't know what it is and then imagine us weaving in between cars about to fly out)
Weather's was nice the first couple days (meaning 100 degrees and 95% humidity) but the past couple have brought some rain and thunderstorms. . .in other words we're beginning to see the signs of monsOOOOOOOn season!! aahh! Little crazy out there. . .
Anyway, hope everything is great there! Miss you all! Love ya!

Seeeeee ya!!!
Welcome everyone to my very first blog. I'm feeling incredibly nerdy at the moment but felt it was necessary to start one for my upcoming adventures. This way you all don't have to pretend you're reading any painfully long, mass emails I'm sending. Instead you can pretend you're checking my blog.
I'm still in the good 'ol U.S. of A right now, but as of tomorrow night I will be soaring across the ocean blue on my way to the land of Thai. That's where I'll be setting up shop for the next few months. . .hopefully eating some phad thai, seeing some crazy new things in Bangkok, and lying on some amazing beaches. Oh yeah, I'll be teaching English also. The school I'm teaching at is in Lampang which is just south of Chiang Mai in the northern part of Thailand. I'll be in Bangkok for the first couple weeks and then head north to start teaching. Hopefully I will be able to find an internet connection somewhere along the way to let you know I've made it!
One more thing, I am SO excited to be taking this adventure with one of my dearest of dear friends, known to most of you as J. For those of you who don't know her, our fams have known eachother since we were 4 and we have been friends ever since (oooooh!) So you'll be hearing about her along the way as well.
Talk to you soon!
